Right now, there are 0 Goon Show scripts here All these scripts were, of course, originally written by Spike Milligan (with the occasional co-writer) to be performed by The Goons, and as it has been pointed out, they are rather documentations of what is actually heard in the shows, including ad libs, gaffes, and what have you, than mere reproductions of the original scripts. These 'documentations' were then transcribed and proofread and corrected and adjusted over and over again by lots of people, most of which can be found on alt.fan.goons. I have proofread them once again and then published them with a style and layout I like. I've made them available as PDF:s, you can also get the Word documents if you'd like to pick up where I left. Any way, enjoy. P.S. There is a proper P.S. at the bottom of this page. D.S. |
P.S. Text in grey represents sections which have been deleted in the editions I have access to. They are especially frequent in the shows labeled "somewhat edited". Special thanks to: all transcribers who have spent far more work on these scripts than I have, including Kurt Adkins, Debby Stark and that 'anon' fellow; Tony Wills, who has published lots of scripts (some transcribed by himself) on his transcript page; Wayne Stewart, for his nice blog and help with hard-to-find shows; and, of course, Spike Milligan, a genius if ever there was one. Comments? Mail to goonfan@hexmaster.com. Bonus -- My favourite sequence: Could you spell it? Never mind the favourite favourite: What time is it, Eccles?
In case you've stumbled upon this page and don't have a clue what this "Goon" stuff is about:
It's a radio show broadcast by the BBC in the 50's, and, more importantly, it's just about the
funniest stuff there is, without which e.g. Monty Python would probably never have happened.
There are lots of fan sites out there, here are two particularly excellent ones:
